The SATURDAY SIX Looks at Mickey Shaped Food at Walt Disney World!

Posted in hawtgbjn on December 21st, 2019

first_imgShare This! This week’s SATURDAY SIX takes a look at Mickey Shaped Food at Walt Disney World! Long time SAT SIX readers have probably noticed that we are more than a bit obsessed by theme park snacks. Whether it be in Disneyland, Disney World, or Universal, if the theme parks make it, we’ll eat it, that’s our policy. In fact this very blog series is the leading cause of adult onset diabetes. You may be thinking, “maybe you guys should cover some healthy options?”  To that we say NAY, NAY! We’re only going to cover the good stuff here. In fact, today we are going to check out some of our favorite foods in all of Walt Disney World: those shaped like Mickey.  That’s right, Disney snacks that taste good and bring a smile to our face, so let’s kickoff the countdown with…# 6 – Ice Cream SandwichTo show the power that Mickey shaped foods have over us, let’s start off with a staple snack of our Disney trips: Mickey’s premium ice cream sandwich. Back in the real world we may buy a pint of Ben & Jerrys, or maybe a box of popsicles, but who gets ice cream sandwiches? Inside the Disney parks this cookies and cream flavored frozen treat just tastes better than the vanilla ones we get back home. This is also one of the rare treats that has Mickey Mouse’s full face smiling back at you, making it even more special.Available: Throughout the resort.Mickey’s premium ice cream sandwich. (photo by Brandon Glover)Mickey’s premium ice cream sandwich.(photo by Brandon Glover)–# 5 – Mickey WaffleThe small Mickey waffles are our go-to foods at Disney buffets like Tusker House and Cape May Cafe, but it’s inside the Magic Kingdom where we can get the full size version. At rope drop many guests head straight to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but we take a left hand turn at the hub and head over to Liberty Square to get a plate of golden brown goodness.Available: Sleepy Hollow RefreshmentsMickey Waffle. (photo by Brandon Glover)Mickey Waffles at Cape May Cafe.–# 4 – Rice Krispies TreatsBakeries in Walt Disney World have a lot of tremendously tasty options, but we love the Mickey-shaped Rice Krispies treats. Unlike traditional Rice Krispie treats, these are served on a stick, so your hands won’t get sticky while eating. Several bonus points awarded here as Disney uses the actual Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal in making them, so you don’t have some goofy name like “crisped rice snack” that you’ll see elsewhere, and this is also the only food on this list that you pretty easily replicate in your own home.Available: At bakeries throughout the resort along with hotel food courtsRice Krispies + Butter + Marshmallows = YUM–# 3 – PretzelWe love pretzels at the theme parks. They are a filling snack that is easy to eat while on the go. Some pretzels are better than others though, such as a Bavarian pretzel and beer at Germany in Epcot that should be on every Disney foodie’s bucket list. The best pretzel however is a Mickey pretzel. The optional cheese sauce can help turn this large and hot pieces of perfection into just about a meal by itself.Located: At all the Disney theme parks.Mickey pretzel. (photo by Brandon Glover)Mickey pretzel with “cheese” sauce. (photo by Katie McNair)–# 2 – Mickey BarWhen it comes to iconic snacks in Walt Disney World we have a short list of front runners for the top spot. Dole Whip, popcorn, and churros would be in contention, but don’t count out the Mickey premium ice cream bar. The perfect treat for a hot day (which, in Florida, is just about every day,) the crunchy chocolate coating mixed with the softer vanilla ice cream inside combine for a great taste in every bite. The Mickey bar is a first ballot Hall of Famer snack for both young and old.Available: Throughout property.Mickey’s premium ice cream bar. (photo by Lisa Gilmore)Mickey’s premium ice cream bar. (photo by Brandon Glover)–# 1 – Colossal Cinnamon RollWhen you bill a food item as “colossal,” you better deliver on the goods. When it comes to “blessing of size” at Walt Disney World we could just as easily be referring to foods such as the s’mores baked Alaska at The BOATHOUSE or the famous Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream. At Animal Kingdom, the colossal cinnamon roll at Kusafiri is the real deal and should be your second stop in the park after stopping by Pandora: The World of Avatar. Doubters may think the price of near $9 may be excessive for a cinnamon roll, but remember we are now in a world of $7 pizza slices. If anything the cinnamon roll (which serves two people) can be considered a “value.” Think of it as three cinnamon rolls, a giant one for the “face” and two regular ones for the ears. It is LOADED with extra cinnamon on top, and Disney doesn’t get skimpy with the frosting either. Pro Tip: start your journey in the morning with a colossal cinnamon roll at Kusafiri; in the afternoon stop by Dawa Bar for a sugar cane mojito and walk over to Satu’li Canteen for lunch , and finish your day with a meal at Tiffins.Available: Kusafiri Coffee Shop and BakeryColossal cinnamon roll. Eurovision 2014: Song contest kicks off today

Posted in dnxjvxyy on November 27th, 2019

first_imgSingers from 26 nations are competing in the kitschy cocktail of pop and politics that is the Eurovision song contest, with a bearded Austrian drag queen battling twin sisters from Russia and a 21-year-old crowd darling from Ukraine.Swedish Sanna Nielsen’s new-age pop song “Undo” is the bookmakers’ favourite. A win by her would be the second in three years for Sweden. Overall, Sweden has won the contest five times, mostly notably with ABBA’s Waterloo in 1974.Singers from 26 nations are competing in the kitschy cocktail of pop and politicsBut the geopolitical echoes of Russia’s conflict with Crimea may dominate the song contest, which launched the careers of ABBA and Celine Dion. Many in the Copenhagen audience booed on Tuesday when Russia’s, the 17-year-old Tolmachevy twin sisters, qualified for the final.Adding to controversy, the contest’s organisers said votes from Crimea – annexed by Russia – would count as Ukrainian votes, because tallies are based on existing national telephone codes. It has been widely speculated that Russia’s entry could suffer for its annexation of Crimea and intransigence on gay rights. The event is hugely popular in the gay community. The Tolmachevy sisters, Anastasia and Maria, who won the Junior Eurovision in 2006, have not commented on the politics. The Tolmachevy sisters, Anastasia and Maria strike a poseUkrainian singer Mariya Yaremchuk, who got huge cheers when she was also voted through on Tuesday, said her preparation for the contest has been affected by the crisis in her country.”Actually, when I was preparing in Ukraine I even couldn’t focus on working because we all were influenced by that,” she told Reuters television.advertisementIn a Nordic region that prides itself on social liberties, the Danish organizers have declared tolerance a main theme for the event and the rainbow-coloured flag symbolising gay pride has been waved many places in Copenhagen.Austria’s contestant, drag queen Conchita Wurst – sporting high-heels, butterfly eyelashes and a full beard – was voted through at the second semi-final on Thursday. The audience in Copenhagen cheered loudly, and the bookmakers see her grandiose ballad “Rise Like a Phoenix” as a runner-up.Austria’s contestant, drag queen Conchita Wurst is a popular contestant”The beard is a statement to say that you can achieve anything, no matter who you are or how you look,” Wurst told Reuters.Online petitions were started in Belarus, Armenia and Russia – whose government passed a law last year banning “gay propaganda” among minors – to have Wurst removed or edited out of broadcasts in their countries. The contest was started in the 1950s to help foster unity after World War Two, but geopolitics have played a role in the voting before. Points are now awarded half by professional judges and half by the public via phone and SMS.When Russia made a military intrusion in neighbouring Georgia in 2009, Georgia wanted to compete with a satire over Russia’s President Vladimir Putin called ‘We don’t wanna Put In’.The organisers said Georgia’s song was too political and asked the country to either to change the lyrics or participate with another song. Georgia withdrew from the contest.last_img read more

Russian S400s delivery may be earlier than planned Turkey

Posted in xgzdvglq on October 12th, 2019

first_imgAnkara: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the delivery of Turkey’s disputed Russian S-400 missile defence systems could be earlier than initially planned, Hurriyet daily reported on Wednesday. Ankara’s purchase of the S-400s risks US sanctions and has further strained already tense relations with Washington. US officials are concerned over the incompatibility of the S-400s with NATO military hardware as well as Ankara’s increasingly close relationship with Russia. Also Read – Saudi Crown Prince ‘snubbed’ Pak PM, recalled jet from US”The S-400 missile defence system was to be delivered in July, maybe we will bring this forward,” Erdogan told Turkish journalists on board his plane after a Russia visit, the newspaper said. Erdogan was in Moscow on Monday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the S-400 purchase and joint coordination in Syria on the agenda. “This step that we have taken for our country’s security neither targets a third country nor does it give our sovereign rights over to a third country,” Erdogan said. Also Read – Record number of 35 candidates in fray for SL Presidential pollsIn a bid to stop Turkey purchasing the S-400s, the US has offered to sell the US Patriot system but Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said this was not guaranteed. “If the United States does not want to sell the Patriot, tomorrow we can buy a second S-400, or another defence system,” he said during an interview with NTV broadcaster. He said Turkey did not only need the S-400s but also “other defence systems”. Last week, Washington put a freeze on its joint F-35 fighter jet programme with Turkey in protest over the S-400 deal. Turkey planned to buy 100 F-35A fighter jets, with pilots already training in the US.last_img read more

Modi govt has been all campaign no work Priyanka Gandhi

Posted in iphgegfl on October 12th, 2019

first_imgRatlam: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Monday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying his five-year tenure saw only “campaigning” and no work. Referring to Modi’s reported “tapasya” (hardwork) remark, the Congress general secretary said “tapasya” destroys arrogance, but the “arrogance” of the Modi government had grown “too big”. Gandhi Vadra alleged Modi did not find even five minutes in his tenure to solve problems faced by the poor in his constituency, Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh. Also Read – 2019 most peaceful festive season for J&K: Jitendra Singh In an interview to a leading English daily, Modi had recently said that his image was not created by the ” Khan Market gang” (located in Delhi), but his 45-year tapasya (hard work). “Normally, political leaders should talk about real issues during campaign, like what are your problems, how it can be solved, what they will do in next five years, what they did in last five years,” Gandhi Vadra told a poll rally here. “But in the last five years a strange silsila (series) is on. Only campaigning is going on, no actual work was done,” she said. Also Read – Personal life needs to be respected: Cong on reports of Rahul’s visit abroad Gandhi Vadra said there has been a difference in the BJP’s campaigning and reality and assured that the Congress will realise promises. She alleged that the “tapasvi” prime minister did not secure farmers, youth, the weak and others of the country. “This government’s arrogance has grown so much that he reaches out to you only during rallies. He did not find even five minutes in five years to go to the home of a poor person or farmer in his own constituency Varanasi to tell them what he could do to solve their problems through his government,” she charged. She accused the prime minister of talking “big and random” things and not about the BJP’s unfulfilled poll promises. “Be alert, an effort is on to delude you, you are being used politically. You have made all the politicians. Hence, try to understand your strength. Your vote is important, don’t waste it,” she told the gathering. Gandhi Vadra also criticised the government on the issues of note ban, alleging that it caused huge job losses and other hardships. She dubbed the PM-Kisan Yojana as the ‘Kisan Apman Yojana’ and claimed the Congress’ NYAY scheme, under which people will get Rs 6000 per month, was better. She said the PM-Kisan Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) only allocated Rs 2 per day per family member which was completely inadequate.last_img read more

Mens Lacrosse Jack Jasinski finds path to becoming crucial player for Ohio

Posted in myekaaeu on September 28th, 2019

Then-sophomore attackman Jack Jasinski heads for the goal in the fourth quarter during the first round of the NCAA tournament against Loyola Maryland on May 14, 2017. Credit: Sheridan Hendrix | Former Oller ReporterOhio State lacrosse senior midfielder Jack Jasinski is currently the top point scorer for the Buckeyes, but the Alabama native is focused on helping his teammates and changing the way people see lacrosse in his home state.Jasinski grew up in Birmingham, an area not known for lacrosse the way it is for football or basketball. His high school days weren’t normal due to him taking up the sport.“It was very, very different. I think there are only 13 high school teams in the whole state for lacrosse,” Jasinski said.Jasinski found lacrosse through his older brother, who decided to take up the sport while Jasinski was in the eighth grade. He was focused on baseball at the time, but decided to give lacrosse a chance. “I didn’t expect it,” Jasinski said. “I was like, ‘I’ll probably still play baseball,’ and I ended [up] playing lacrosse, and I’ve pretty much never looked back.”Now, as the top scorer for the Buckeyes with 26 points, Jasinski has become one of the most important players on the No. 4-ranked lacrosse team.“He’s a guy that just continues to get better and better,” Ohio State head coach Nick Myers said.Jasinski is usually one of the shortest players each time he takes the field, standing at 5 feet 7 inches, but his mentality has helped make him the top scorer of the only undefeated team left in the Top 25. “I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder, just being from Alabama, just being from a small area,” Jasinski said. His development has never been more evident than during this season. Jasinski broke onto the scene after an impressive junior season that was enough for him to be named on the Big Ten Watch List.“When he got here, he was probably a little bit more raw than not,” Myers said. “But I think he’s really developed well into a lacrosse player.”Not only has Jasinski made a difference to the stat sheet, he has also embraced the role of a leader that comes with being a senior.Hei is one of seven seniors on the Ohio State roster that is making team culture a priority.Despite not being named a captain, Jasinski still takes on that role and shows his support for the players named captains.“The guys that were selected captains were selected because they’re really good leaders,” Jasinski said. ”I have nothing but support and praise. They’ve done a great job this year.”Off the field, Jasinski took a service trip this past summer to help people in Puerto Rico.“I went down there and was blown away, their culture there, the positivity they bring, they had gone through a lot in the past 24 months with hurricanes,” Jasinski said. “It gives you a good perspective like, ‘You know what? You don’t really have a lot to complain about here.’”During the trip, Jasinski went to a village where it was difficult for the residents to get supplies in order to fix the houses affected by the hurricanes. He helped paint houses, give supplies, meet with local community members and hand out shoes to the kids who didn’t have any.The senior midfielder credits that trip to Puerto Rico for changing him as a teammate and reminding himself that things could be much worse. In the wake of graduation, Jasinski’s hopes to keep playing lacrosse as long as he can.“If I get the opportunity, that’d be awesome,” Jasinski said. With the Dallas Rattlers taking Jasinski with the 37th pick in the Major League Lacrosse draft, it looks like the undersized player from Alabama will get his opportunity. read more

Croatian goalkeeper expecting a defensive approach from Russia

Posted in jetevarl on September 18th, 2019

first_imgCroatia goalkeeper Danijel Subasic is expecting Russia to deploy defensive tactics against them in what he feels will be a “tough match” against the hostsFollowing their penalty shoot-out win over Denmark in the last knockout round, Zlatko Dalic’s side will now be taking on the hosts in front of the Russian supporters at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi for a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup.Stanislav Cherchesov’s side have already performed above expectations on home soil and come into Saturday’s game on the back of having eliminated 2010 winners Spain on Sunday following a robust defensive display. And Subasic is expecting more of the same for Croatia this weekend.ScotlandScotland needs a hero: Billy Dodds Manuel R. Medina – September 10, 2019 According to former striker, Billy Dodds his country needs a hero to inspire future generations as the team’s hope to qualify to the EURO 2020 is small.“Team Russia is a difficult opponent, it is a good team with good players. They will play at home, and, naturally, fans’ support will be an additional factor of pressure on us. The Russian team is most likely to choose defensive tactics, so this is going to be a tough game. However, I hope that we manage to win,” said the 33-year-old, as quoted by TASS.“In all, Russia has demonstrated solid performance at the World Cup. They have very dangerous counter-attacks and are strong in playing as a team, that’s why I don’t want to single any of their players out,” he added.Like his counterpart Kasper Schmeichel did for Denmark,  Subasic performed superbly in Croatia’s penalty shoot-out win and saved three of the spot-kicks taken by the Danes.“On the day before the game with Denmark, we trained penalty kicks, and I managed to save many shots. The situation in a game is totally different, however, because you have to cope with all this pressure,” he said.last_img read more
